Purpose

Our brand promise, Enhancing Lives by Transforming Businesses Through Innovation, extends beyond the work we do for clients. The same problem-solving approach we bring to global enterprises shapes how we engage with communities, how we run our operations, and how we treat the people who work here. This page brings together three areas of commitment: social impact and corporate social responsibility, environmental, social, and governance practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Social Impact and CSR

We help mission-driven organizations expand their reach and effectiveness through technology. Across sectors such as health, education, legal assistance, research, environmental advocacy, and social services, we deliver solutions in areas including donor management, enterprise back-end systems, donor-facing websites, mobile applications, data analytics, cloud migration, and process automation. Our aim is to help these organizations serve their communities more effectively while keeping their data secure.

Graminno

Graminno is an Accion Labs social impact initiative working with rural communities to build sustainable livelihoods through agriculture, knowledge sharing, and long-term partnership. The name combines Gramin, meaning rural, with innovation, reflecting a belief that innovation should reach beyond urban and enterprise environments.

The initiative began in 2020, when teams from Accion Labs started spending time in Aatley, a village in the Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra. The intention was to listen first and to understand daily realities directly from the community. Relationships came before any program took shape.

To bring the right expertise together, Accion Labs partnered with Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, an agricultural university in the Konkan region. The collaboration introduced:

  • Scientific cultivation guidance
  • Soil and crop assessment
  • Farmer training programs
  • Organic farming practices
  • Post-harvest process support

Turmeric was selected as the first crop after evaluating soil, climate, and long-term income stability. Aatley’s first commercial harvest produced nearly five tons of organically grown turmeric, with families across the village working together to harvest, sort, and sun-dry the roots.

Within the community, the initiative has supported income stability through access to a viable commercial crop, women’s participation as central contributors during processing and sorting, skill development that combines agricultural science with local expertise, and growing community ownership of decisions. Future efforts focus on:

  • Strengthening agricultural stability
  • Expanding opportunities within the village
  • Building a repeatable rural development model

ESG

We recognize the significance of environmental, social, and governance factors in shaping our business, our communities, and the broader environment. Our commitment is to integrate ESG principles into our daily operations, decision-making, and strategic initiatives, creating value for stakeholders that include investors, employees, clients, and the communities we engage with.

Our ESG goals are organized around three areas:

  • Environmental stewardship: reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices, including reducing emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting renewable resources.
  • Social responsibility: fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace, supporting education and skill development, and giving back to local communities through corporate social responsibility programs.
  • Governance practices: upholding high standards of corporate governance, ethical conduct, and transparency in financial reporting, risk management, and compliance.

To oversee these commitments, Accion Labs has established an ESG governance body comprising senior leaders from across the organization. This body sets ESG goals, develops strategies and action plans, monitors progress, and reports on performance to the board of directors, management, and other stakeholders. Its work guides initiatives that include reducing our carbon footprint, supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion, sustainable product development, green IT, community engagement, ethical use of technology, and transparent reporting.

DEI

We strive to foster a culture where individuals with diverse backgrounds feel welcomed and valued, and we aspire to be an organization that upholds equality and does not discriminate based on culture, color, gender, or religion. We see a diverse workforce as essential as we expand globally, and we begin that work internally.

Our approach is comprehensive: evaluating the workplace, developing a DEI strategy, building a diverse and inclusive culture, monitoring progress, and holding leaders accountable. It rests on a few commitments:

  • Accessibility to everyone: ensuring equal access to opportunities, channels, resources, and tools, regardless of background.
  • Open communication: creating a workplace where people feel comfortable expressing ideas, taking ownership, and pursuing their goals.
  • Innovative mindsets: valuing innovative thinking and an agile attitude that broaden our talent pool and open new opportunities.
  • DEI in all functions: integrating DEI into operations and departments so that examining these issues becomes standard practice.

We are committed to building a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and empowering. That commitment shows up in employee training, career advancement support, fair compensation, attention to well-being, a culture of idea sharing and recognition, and ongoing efforts to listen to employees and act on their feedback.
